Poplar Road shop, Kings Heath, circa 1924

Founded by Mr Albert lashford in 1889 in the Kings Heath area of Birmingham. In 1916 Alfred Lashford (Albert's son) joined the company to assist with the increasing demand for top quality products. In 1939 John lashford (Alfred's son) aged only 8 began to work helping with general duties and deliveries on his push bike. John today still helps out with book work. In 1965 the buisness moved to new premises in Knowle, West Midlands. This is where we started to explore more varieties of sausages.

In 1980 we won our first major competition and many more followed in the coming years, including several gold awards at the prestigious Smithfield show, held in London. As the company's reputation grew the need for more staff meant yet another Lashford. This time Stephen joined thus becoming the 5th generation to manage A.W Lashford & Son. We now have over 100 types of sausage, however only about 25 are in regular production. The 6th generation of Lashfords, Craig and Darren are now involved when not studying at school or University. Hopefully the tradition will continue.

Our faggot recipe has been in the family for over 90 years and has been passed down throughout the generations.
